Last year back in September 2015, I got an amazing opportunity to join a trip to north India as Instigator with 20 travel enthusiast from different fields, mindsets, backgrounds and age groups. The trip was known as “The Big Bang Trip – TBBT“, I got to learn a lot from this and I felt the need to share this on my travel blog.
You know when we bring people from different backgrounds together in a place, they will have a lot to talk about and when you pair them with amazing travel, you have yourself the perfect escape from the mundane routine. Learning, sharing, experiencing and enjoying, these are regulars at “The Big Bang Trip“.
Our journey began from Delhi, we were to assemble in the Zostel . I met all the participants for the first time here. Among all the people was also a girl called Parul Tyagi and she was there to launch her book “Hurry Om Hari”. We had dinner in Delhi before we left for Rishikesh, Uttarakhand in a Force, Traveller van that had been booked for us.
We reached Rishikesh, Uttarakhand by 05:00 AM on the next morning. we weren’t able to sleep properly in the van thus we slept in the hotel for a while. Then we had our Breakfast at Chotiwala’s and then we were off to sightseeing. We went to Lakshman Jhula and Ram Jhula and then we were hungry again. After having snacks at Cafe Bistro Nirvana we were off to visit places again, the weather was quite beautiful too. anyways, we ended our day with Little Buddha’s cafe (there is an ice cream called “Hello To The Queen“, you must have this. if you go to Rishikesh).
When we woke up the next morning Alisha(Indian Jugni) suggested to go for a trek. We had our Lunch at Beetles Cafe and then we were off to this trek. It was beautiful, the scenery was eye soothing. the trek went parallel to the Ganges, so it was a new experience for all of us. We bid farewell to the day after the Ganga Aarti.
So it was the start of Day 4 now, and we were still in Rishikesh, Uttarakhand. We had our breakfast and then we hurried towards Kasauli, Himachal Pradesh. We had our Lunch on the way. We reached Kasauli Residency, Himachal Pradesh it was to be our base for our stay in kasauli, Himachal Pradesh. Then after dinner, we sat down to enjoy music and talk a bit. the conversations soon grew deeper. After the talk, we went to sleep.
Next morning we were to leave for Kasol, Himachal Pradesh, hence, we quickly finished up with our breakfast and then left for Kasol, Himachal Pradesh. You see I was already heart full with the amazing sceneries, but this was even greener and nicer. “I could stare at these for days” said I looking through the window on Alpine Resort, our base in Kasol, Himachal Pradesh. This resort had something unique, the windows that opened on the back, actually opened to another dimension. the sceneries were so amazing, the sound of the river flowing was loud but it never disturbed me.
On Day 6, our first plan was to visit Malana Trek. This trek is approximately 5-6 hours when done from the very start. Not all of us in the group were core trek loving people. So we went halfway via taxi and then started our trek. We were back in the hotel in the evening. Our organisers were there to meet us after dinner. They introduced me to the rest of the team and told them that:
I was not a tripper, but an Instigator. I was there to be with others, retrospect myself and learn from each one of them. Most of the trippers were shocked but some of them did have their hopes high on me.
We had left Kasol, Himachal Pradesh on the night of our 6th day. 7th saw us in Mcleodganj, Himachal Pradesh. All the peaks up till here were green on top. But this was the first time that we saw white top mountains, they were marvellous. In fact, Illiterati cafe was a life-changing place for me. For it was in the gallery of this cafe that I on looked at the possibilities of travel beyond the reaches of the mountains and to the nearby countries and the direct result of this was The Butan Project In the evening we went to the local markets, most of the people engaged in shopping and the rest went back to the hotel.
In the morning, before the trip could resume, Alisha took me and Neeraj to a lake and I must say, we got amazing pictures there. Then we came back to the hotel and went to a Bhagsu Waterfall. Nobody dared to enter the freezing water but I, Alisha and Neeraj jumped into the ice cold water. We snapped a lot of photos and videos there. After that, we visited the Kalachakra Temple.
Day 9 found us back in Zostel, Delhi, the place we had started from. The same place seemed a little different. The last time I was there, I saw a bunch of strangers. And now, I saw a bunch of people I will never forget in my life. In the evening, we had a party thrown to us from our organisers at the American Cafe. We enjoyed to our fullest and sang to our loudest at the karaoke. Until each petal of the flower started to depart where it was destined to go.
In the past 9 days, I’ve learned to care for people more. I used to walk with the last person (slowest) always and I realized I had a hidden attribute in me. I always travelled solo until this trip, I learned how a team should function, how to trust. I would like to thank The Big Bang Trip – TBBT team for this amazing experience and wish them all the very best for all their future endeavors.
